Reflections on “Chicago values” - Cardinal's Network

Was Jesus a bigot?  Could Jesus be accepted as a Chicagoan?  Would Jesus be more “enlightened” if he had the privilege of living in our society?  One is welcome to believe that, of course; but it should not become the official state religion, at least not in a land that still fancies itself free.

Reflections on “Chicago values” - Cardinal's Network

Cardinal George takes Rahm Emmanuel to school with this article.  He is well expressed and succinct.  Worth the read.

Club for Growth blasts Trump - Washington Times

Trump would not know the meaning of conservative if it hit him in the face.  He is trying to pull a Ross Perot for the next election and I believe he wants to scare other candidates away from a primary battle waiving his money in the air. The birth certificate issue is not the issue that should highlight the primary season. The economy is the issue.   However, the question is will he  spend his own money in the end.

He is a bigger showman than the late Liberace.

Regarding Parental Rights, Sex Education and Moral Relativism

www.culture-of-life.org - Interview with Mr. Paul E. Rondeau - Researcher on Crucial Policy Concerns in Present Day Culture
The interview in this article is well worth the read and a concise answer to the question "how did we get here?" But the reader needs to go forward. I discovered Mr. Paul E. Rondeau on EWTN's Abundant Life show. I had read about these approaches over the years in researching school choice, the push to put the homosexual agenda in education and the Saul Alinsky approaches. Having a background in nursing and not marketing, the ability to address how these agendas were being promoted was strained. Mr. Rondeau is a successful marketing professional who now devotes his time to educating others. A good summary of what was said in the Abundant Life show is found in the article entitled: Political Correctness: How They Market Homosexuality by Rev. Val J. Peter Of note:
Political correctness has to do with movements that set a new social standard to be imposed on others by an elite group. What makes it a scourge is that it insists on forced conformity for the sake of conformity.

Before reading the article, I would direct the reader to this quote of the penultimate paragraph of the essay as it could be a shock to discover the information for the first time:
After reading this, some may feel duped and manipulated because you are intentionally conditioned to arrive at conclusions you believe, up until now, were really your own. If that is the case, remember the advice of Bernard Lonergan. The remedy for being duped for mistaken believing is not to give up on believing, but to develop better controls over it.
You can read Mr. Rondeau's research paper entitled Selling Homosexuality to America here.

JFK speech on faith was 'sincere' but 'wrong,' Archbishop Chaput states :: Catholic News Agency (CNA)

How this has been needed to be stated on the record by the Church hierarchy! Kennedy did more to undermine the thinking of our founders. We are to be leery of a government who grabs more and more power to itself, because it necessarily in the process must take more and more away from the individual. That, in turn, leads to interfering into what the individual does best for himself and his family. A socialistic government violates the principle of subsidiarity.

Peggy-Who-the-Heck-Are-You-Noonan Shows Her East Coast Elitism

A Farewell to Harms - WSJ.com

What is Peggy Noonan's problem, once again the question is asked. Give me a break, we have a community organizer in the White House. Peggy is just a good prose writer, but how that makes her a good judge of what is best for us, I don't know. Ronald Reagan would be proud that a Westerner was stepping up and talking about the America where people get up and are motivated to do good for their families and community. Palin has school age children, a child with special needs, a son in the military, a husband who does dangerous work. Yet she manages to portray that "feminine genius" that John Paul II talkes about. Noonan is having a hard time with that aspect. She would have a hard time with a lot of woman who would not make the mark at the local cocktail party of the elite. She lacks charity in her attack on Sarah Palin. Frankly, it is very ugly and unattractive. Hey Peggy, Sarah has stepped up run for offices and won. Why don't you do the same and demonstrate what it is you don't think we are grasping in the situation.

India seems to understand the benefit of private enterprise...perhaps they could send someone over to educate our bummer of an administration!

California’s Nightmare Is the Underscore to the Obummer Economic Unrecovery

California’s Nightmare Will Kill Obamanomics: Kevin Hassett - Bloomberg.com

"Obama has no story. Nobody believes that his unprecedented expansion of the welfare state will lead to enough economic growth. Nobody believes that it will pay for itself. Everyone understands that higher spending today begets higher spending tomorrow. That means that his economic strategy simply doesn’t add up."

And California will drive the rusty stake in the economic coffin. Time to give massive tax cuts to those who know how to build an economy...the private sector...industrious but not greedy.

Powell airs doubts on Obama agenda - Washington Times http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/jul/03/powell-airs-doubts-on-obama-agenda Why didn't Powell figure this out before he took Rush on....who has called it correctly? So where does Powell stand now...does he want a bummer of a plan to succeed in failure for our economy or for the plan to be stopped? Is he conceding to Rush?

Keeping the Government and the Washington Post Honest

Read the story at http://www.nypost.com/seven/07032009/business/all_acce_press_177345.htm and you will no longer wonder why people think they need to read the Drudge Report and check facts for themselves on the internet. Yes, the internet has the place to go to get the fact checking done, read intelligent analysis and help to keep the government and the old establishment press at bay when they are trying to pull fast ones....

When will people feel remorse for voting for feel-good reasons rather than with reason and principle? Did the American people who allowed the sentiment of hatred of another or a distaste for people brave enough to stand up and say we should worked to be a country with standards think that there would not be horrible consequences? Do they really want to be best friends to the likes of Chavez, Castro and the guy from Iran? Just wondering....

The American Spectator : Barney Frank Lies About ACORN

The American Spectator : Barney Frank Lies About ACORN

A group with great influence and money flowing from so many nonprofits and governmental sources. This is the voice of liberation theology in America. Does this organization have an end game in mind or does it just want to be sure that it always has a problem with which to stir up trouble and the money that comes from it?

New Survey about Religion in America

This study is interesting about the changes in population with regard to faith. Of course, I am interested in the shift with regard to Catholics. http://www.americanreligionsurvey-aris.org/

Also of interest is a story by the Christian Science Monitor about Christian Churches and it mentions the trend of people coming home to the Catholic Church especially due to the appeal of unity (authority?)...imagine that...Christ's prayer that they may all be one is being answered today in the midst of so much turmoil....Read more The Coming Evangelical Collapse.

Stop the CT Church Attack Bill!: National Catholic Register

This could be a very scary trend if it catches on...now our free association can now be controlled by government directed boards? This is very bad law.

Recognizing the Dignity of Women through Action

Santa Clara University has a new president, Fr.Engh, SJ who took a bold step and canceled future performances of the Vagina Monologues. I intend to write him a personal thank you note. Having paid for a child's tuition at the University, it was always with a prayer that that institution would again identify with its Catholic founding.
Now I hope that they will start using the word "Catholic" instead of "Jesuit" during commencements and other important events. We need our Jesuit institutions first and foremost being all that is Catholic. It is sad that two prominent graduates of Santa Clara University, namely, Leon Panetta (1960) and Janet Napolitano (1979), are identified as pro-choice and prominent in an administration that is hostile to Catholicism.

Wimpy Foreign Policy--Everything is Relative

Reuters reports on the firing of an Iranian missile. Of note, our new foreign policy tells people we will talk to them if they stop being bullies...we can give them candy and do nice things for them. Of course, we won't talk about uncomfortable subjects like human rights. Never mind that we are putting our national security at great risk like letting extremist crazies like the head of Iran get his hands on missiles that can hurt us. Of course, Hillary is so effective with her lust towards China...that it has done nothing to stop China from plotting against us. We just want to keep doing business with them and having them over to the White House for more speeches, photo opps. and treaties not worth the paper they were written on. This is going to be one embarrassing spectacle and developing danger to watch. I really wish it was just one horrible movie. Sadly, it isn't.
