Weigel: The Church and the End of the Welfare State | First Things

The Church and the End of the Welfare State | First Things

George Weigel is not always my favorite commentator, but I agree completely with what he states in this article.  In the arena of public policy, it is not about the good people who provide care in a fundamentally flawed system, it is about that flawed system. The Bishops as a group of lobbyists fail to take responsibility in their support of such a system.  That their voice in lobbying for how tax dollars are spent speaks louder over those who put the dollars in the collection box shows a disconnect.  Rather, the Bishops are first and foremost teachers and the direct giver of care with the dollars they have stewardship responsibilities for.  As a private citizens, they have a right to send their personal dollars towards a lobbying approach of their own liking. Their teaching should be reflected in the actions of the Catholic in the pew.  Attacking Paul Ryan for his budget priorities because he is not a liberation theology embracer seems to underscore what is wrong with their approach.  Paul Ryan has boldly tried to change what is harmful in the harmful bureaucracy and bring it back to a responsible approach that will thrive and meet the needs of those who truly qualify for government services.  The Bishops should not be about supporting bad bureaucracy, but about the changes in the hearts of people to work towards a society that respects both solidarity and subsidiarity reflected in healthy economic and social policy.

And here is an example of bad policy pushed by community organizing groups in California, “Sustainability Ideology Invented A Stagnant California Dream”, an excellent article from California Political Review,  that has led to so much bad policy. The Bishops need to examine the bubbles they helped to form with all the do-good programs that are fundamentally flawed.

Getting Enough Sleep or Not Enough Sleep?

Medical News: Bad Sleep Tied to Cognitive Decline - in Meeting Coverage, AAIC from MedPage Today

Just in case you would want to know this, I am noting it in a post.  So to summarize, don’t sleep too little and don’t sleep too much, and deal with the snoring ( causes oxygen desaturation) so you can have your mental wits about you in order to keep up to date with social media a bit longer in your lifetime.

I will add all this to my list of todo’s.  By the way, perhaps we should focus more on this, rather than on that panic about anthropogenic climate change.  The world would be a better place without cranky progressives, conservatives and independents.

U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works :: Minority Page :.Inhofe Speech: Cooling Down the Rhetoric on Recent Global Warming Coverage

.: U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works :: Minority Page :.

Senator James Inhofe has been tenacious in exposing the sociopolitical dishonesty of those who want to politicize science, in order to bring new avenues of government regulation and global taxation.  This has been the case of environmentalism, especially in the arena of climate change and its so-called anthropogenic causes. Since the eastern part of the USA is experiencing a summer of heat waves, many of the climate activists are trying to capitalize on the occurrence of the elevated temperature to make the public warm towards their point of view again.  I would suggest reading what the good senator has to say before giving into the temptation to rejoin the cocktail party conversation.

About those dirty shopping bags-Update

It happened in the State of Washington, a norovirus contacted from a dirty shopping bag.

Read the story and think about what you are doing to protect yourself from such things happening.  What was the bag used for before shopping by the customers ahead of you?

LA County “End Run” on Prop. 26 With Paper Bag Tax Off To Court Of Appeals | FlashReport

The New SinsI am praying that people defending Prop. 26 prevail.  These “sin tax” schemes need to be tossed out.  They are excuses for attaching taxes for politicians to spend more money on bigger government.  In the meantime, if I have to shop in San Jose, I bring in my roll of shiny, new plastic bags and have them place my purchases in them.

Climate Change, Galileo, and the New Inquisition | Crisis Magazine

Climate Change, Galileo, and the New Inquisition | Crisis MagazineIMG_0279

Excellent article by Cardinal Pell regarding the misleading assertion that the science of climate change is settled.  One would hope that the Church in her bishops could come together and take the approach the good Cardinal is suggesting and address the issue from one that seeks to talk about what is known and what is prudent in distributing the needs of the people to those struggling to get them, not coming from the point of view of scarcity, but from the point of view of trusting that God has given us what we need and being thankful and generous.

New NASA Data Blow Gaping Hold In Global Warming Alarmism

New NASA Data Blow Gaping Hold In Global Warming Alarmism - Yahoo! News

So long, farewell, the public alarmism has got to go. Here is the good reason to cut the green technology waste of tax dollars programs. The alarmism is discredited in the hard, cold scientific fact. Someone please tell the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change...they can shut their doors and get onto the real New Evangelization.

The Failure of Liberal Catholicism An examination of its claims - the first of a two-part series. By James Hitchcock

The Failure of Liberal Catholicism: Catholic World Report

A well-written essay that summarizes the plight of faithful Catholics who have had to endure the unfaithful interpretation of Vatican II. Vatican II was about what John Paul II referred to as the "New Evangelization" of the truth of the Gospel from the beginning of time and not about the realignment of truth for Catholics of and for their chance at the Enlightenment.

YouTube - Earth Day Idiots Exposed

Thanks to Brian Sussman for this video.  I have picked this for my marking of Watermelon Day (Green on the Outside-Red on the Inside), a.k.a. Earth Day.  These are the people we listen to, seriously?
Remember the NRPE that funded the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change?  These people follow their agenda without missing a beat, including population control.
Thank you, Brian Sussman. Doing my part to let this go viral.

Another Background Description of NRPE

http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=7572
Yet another description of the NRPE and the operatives of the USCCB who have pushed the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change. Of course, that is why reusable shopping bags are such a big catechesis project in the Diocese of San Jose. Of course, those deanery meetings trying to populate those ridiculous ideas continue to happen.

Why Do We Let Dishonest Science Flourish in our Parishes, Schools and Communities?

Climate Distortions Were Achieved. National Weather Agencies Are The Trojan Horses
Here is yet another article about how the corruption of science by a political process has been hoisted on the public. We all need to take part of the blame when we did not point out to the youth that the teacher is not qualified to know everything. G. K. Chesterton had it right saying that if they are not teaching a dogma, they are not teaching. Even the weather has come under the title of relative as I can testify to the popular notion of global warming because I feel it is warmer than it was ten years ago. To take something as necessary to all survival on this planet like carbon dioxide and say it is poisoning us is just crazy. We have made the kindergarten teacher who gets a day off in the classroom by going to a seminar with a lunch where they hear someone present nonsense as if it is science, so that our kids will come home and form us. No, it is suppose to be us forming the belief system of our children and the school teaching the kids how to use their senses to think and seek the truth. Of course, truth is an antiquated concept. All good intelligent people are naturally members of the liberal elite and they know the truth is relative.

And to think, the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change thinks they should support the lies of the corrupted science...so sad.

UC Physicist: Global Warming A Fraud | CalWatchDog

UC Physicist: Global Warming A Fraud | CalWatchDogclimate change

This blog post refers to a letter from a credible scientist resigning from a professional society of physicists. He outlines the process where an atmosphere is created to portray an atmosphere of consensus where no consensus exists.  When will our educational and professional institutions begin to say no to this type of political organizing in the world of scientific inquiry?  For instance,  when will the USCCB will start to defend honest science and come out and condemn the faulty science and the suppression of scientists who have tried to spread the truth of the situation.  They make the Galileo situation look like chump change.

How can they seriously push the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change with contributions from the pew knowing the controversy demands study and honest answers.  Our local diocese is totally committed and that leaves this Catholic in the pew crying foul. Saving the process of truthful inquiry in science is far more important in advancing the cooperation of faith and reason rather than taking sides in a shaky theory that has been a product of less than honest inquiry and questionable models.

Insight Scoop | The Ignatius Press Blog: What's wrong with this (woof!) picture?

Insight Scoop The Ignatius Press Blog: What's wrong with this (woof!) picture?
Everyone loves St. Francis of Assisi, but they forget to mention he was really a Catholic (the St. title doesn't seem to land for some reason) meaning he believed there is a place called Hell. He loved the creation of God including people. This is a great article about the times and the poem known as the Canticle of the Sun.

The American Spectator : Comparing Apples and Orangutans

The American Spectator : Comparing Apples and Orangutans: "Comparing Apples and Orangutans
By John Droz, Jr. on 5.14.10 @ 6:07AM
One of the most important energy matters to understand is that popular 'renewable' electrical energy sources are not even remotely equivalent to our conventional energy sources."

Ideas have consequences and those in any position of power and influence have a moral responsibility to understand the issue from all perspectives and not rely on community organizing and other forms of mob pressure techniques. The fact is that renewable sources will cause a loss in jobs as the costs of energy will skyrocket due to the mandates and regulation put on business and consumers. America works because you can turn the lights on when it is necessary at an affordable cost--infrastructure demands this. Travel to Bangalore, India and you will understand what it is to HOPE the electricity will function when you need it. We should be exporting all our know how instead of trying to join the other parts of the world where substandard delivery of power is another problem in the day to deal with.

Community Organizing for a Questionable Cause: Catholic Green Initiative Information for Parishes & Schools | Diocese of San Jose

Catholic Green Initiative Information for Parishes & Schools | Diocese of San Jose: "Catholic Green Initiative Information for Parishes & Schools"

Here is the campaign you can expect to be subjected to in the pew and at the local Catholic School in San Jose....too bad they are not engaged in presenting the whole controversey including intimidation of honest scientists. There would a great service be delivered to model how to properly study a question versus giving birth to a worthless venture that will in the end harm the poor as the price of energy will rise with the delivery of inefficient and expensive energy. This green agenda is dogmatic, but not a dogma we have to contribute towards or support in any matter as it does not appear to have an assurance of truthful reason given the shabbiness of the science. Once again, I would direct our friends of this local initiative to visit the petition webpage that lists many credible scientists who question the conclusions of the global warming theory advocates.

I wonder if they will show some balance in the diocese schools and underscore the tainted science that has been pushed as in the best of propaganda campaigns. Personally, I don't like subjecting children to be pons of an agenda to use them to change their parents' habits out of a desire to conform to the peer pressure, as that has been going on in the public schools for far too long...here is a fun video they could use in the interest of fairness at least....Hide the Decline.

This next one is even more educational. I think the local campaign should really review the charts....

Religion, Bad Science, and Environmentalism

Coming out of Mass today I noticed a flyer: Deanery 5 Social Justice Series on Environmental Justice and it had the following bullet point:

• Near unanimous consensus among climate scientists that the earth is warming due to man-made emissions of Green House Gases.
Maybe the words near unanimous consensus were typos, or someone is not aware of the 31,486 American scientists who have signed this petition, including 9,029 with PhDs.  Now I am sure that the presenter at the Deanery event is a very smart scientist, but scientists do not have "near unanimous consensus" on the subject.  Actually, as the petition webpage points out many of them believe:
that the claim of “settled science” and an overwhelming “consensus” in favor of the hypothesis of human-caused global warming and consequent climatological damage is wrong. No such consensus or settled science exists. As indicated by the petition text and signatory list, a very large number of American scientists reject this hypothesis.
The flyer put out by the deanery is not accurate.
