The Failure of Liberal Catholicism An examination of its claims - the first of a two-part series. By James Hitchcock

The Failure of Liberal Catholicism: Catholic World Report

A well-written essay that summarizes the plight of faithful Catholics who have had to endure the unfaithful interpretation of Vatican II. Vatican II was about what John Paul II referred to as the "New Evangelization" of the truth of the Gospel from the beginning of time and not about the realignment of truth for Catholics of and for their chance at the Enlightenment.

The real inconvenient truth

The real inconvenient truth: "The real inconvenient truth
The whole world needs to adopt China's one-child policy
Diane Francis, Financial Post
Published: Tuesday, December 08, 2009"

Such a pity not knowing about the goodness of God and believing you must play the role....the culture of death brings nothing more than more suggestions for more death...guess you would call that a downward spiral. When will we start to see our quest should be to identify a need and seek a way to meet it where life is embraced and the common good is not seen as a redistribution of resources we restrict by artificial constraints? I am so tired of this mixed up notion of sustainability. As Charles Krauthammer once wrote:
Environmentalists are Gaia's priests, instructing us in her proper service and casting out those who refuse to genuflect. (See Newsweek above.) And having proclaimed the ultimate commandment -- carbon chastity -- they are preparing the supporting canonical legislation that will tell you how much you can travel, what kind of light you will read by, and at what temperature you may set your bedroom thermostat.
(From Carbon Chastity, 5/29/2008, http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/29/AR2008052903266_pf.html)
Readers may find this web page, http://green-agenda.com/index.html , very interesting as it lays out history of the current environmental movement with many links to the movers and shakers. It is always nice to figure out where they are heading so that when it happens, you are not shocked, but prepared. You can spend a lot of time at this web page, so set a timer!

A Well Thought Answer to the Question "What Does the Church Offer" to Those Afflicted to Same Sex Attractions

AS this blog article points out, we are all invited to take up the cross, no matter what the situation is. We must support all in that quest. To any other path is to deprive our neighbor of love. This is a great find for sharpening the thinking skills.

San Francisco Bay Times

San Francisco Bay Times: "The New GLBT Pope Problem"

A Reaction to the Manhatten Statement

San Francisco Bay Times: "The New GLBT Pope Problem" Thankfully, the Manhatten Declaration is bringing the bright line of Truth to the public square. The political scene is where the influences of culture, values, economics, virture and religion are played out in public policy. It is where the consensus of those who wield power and influence realize the effectiveness of their rhetoric and rallying of grassroot sentiment. Every election event should be a bloodless, but hard fought battle because it leads to a healthy pruning. When one side attempts to shut another side out from a truthful argument, the society as a whole suffers. Yes, we must cooperate where we can to alleviate suffering, but we must also be willing to march into the war of rhetoric seeking out the truth and declaring it boldly. Our approach is for the greater good, which is not the equivalent of the lesser evil.

Take the Example of George Bush-Going against your primary beliefs for a quick fix can be devastating!

Bush warns of threats to freedom, economic growth - Washington Times:
"'I believe in the power of the free enterprise system, which made the decision I faced last fall one of the most difficult of my presidency. I went against my free market instincts and approved a temporary government intervention to unfreeze credit and prevent a global financial catastrophe,' he said."

It was his own party that said this was a mistake (of course, we had that poor excuse for a presidential candidate who did not want to be associated with the party faithful), but now we have to deal with the weakened position in the debate that George Bush started it and it was his economy. Nobody points out that the unemployment level was never as high as it is now under Bush. Bush owes a lot of us an apology (as does McCain), but that won't be coming along too soon.

Planned Parenthood's abortion quotas exposed

Planned Parenthood's abortion quotas exposed: "It is what it is" taking a life through abortion. The ultrasound served as the implement to drop the scales from this woman's eyes. Hopefully, her story will give others courage.

EWTN.com - New Study on Americans with No Religion

EWTN.com - New Study on Americans with No Religion Something for the wider Catholic commumity to ponder. Isn't it time to approach catechesis with more effective approaches that teach the faith versus offering the "all you need is love" served with bad music and religion lite approaches? Shouldn't we be reminding the youth and refreshing the message for families that faith is a gift that is theirs to keep or lose? Are we not perpetrating the sin of presumption always excusing the rejection of the faith with the trite attitude that God will understand...we have our work cut out for us.

EWTN.com - Cardinal Cautions Against False Inculturation, Liturgical Dance

EWTN.com - Cardinal Cautions Against False Inculturation, Liturgical Dance
I am such an admirer of Cardinal Arinze, especially of his style. He says what he means with example. When you really want people to understand the KISS approach really works. KISS-Keep It Simple and Stupid. Things that are stated with this approach take a knowledge and grasp of the subject with its basic tenets minus hazy idiosyncracies.

Pelosi Tries to Quell Concerns Over Abortion in Health Bill - Roll Call

Pelosi Tries to Quell Concerns Over Abortion in Health Bill - Roll Call The pro-life Catholics may be getting the message to turn up the heat on those "prolife Democrats", but they should not be easily fooled. Unless these guys shed political blood and fight the fight winning statutory gians, they should be thrown out for the phoneys they are. Until that happens, the claim "prolife Democrat politician" is a misnomer and an oxymoron meaning prochoice.

EWTN.com - U.S. Bishops Call for Affordable Health Care without Abortion; Backtracking on Illegal Immigrants?

EWTN.com - U.S. Bishops Call for Affordable Health Care without Abortion; Backtracking on Illegal Immigrants?

The USCCB is apparently scrutinizing the actual language of the proposed bills in Congress. One hopes that as a body they will understand that the ACORN way denies the individual the ability to make the best choices for themselves and their families. So many regulations regarding health care create barriers to the market providing efficient solutions. The more the government is in the makeup of health care, the expensive it has become. Physicians, hospitals and insurance companies must first respond to the regulations and the massive overhead (including giving Cadillac care to illegal immigrants) along with the inadequate compensation before they can decide how to manage the rest of the picture. No longer can you find the bedside physician that can afford to give out "free" care. Sending money up to Washington DC to beg back for pennies on the dollars just does not work. They finally seem to be embracing subsidiarity, but we shall see how the cards are played when the fight about immigration finally takes shape. There are some real concessions in the rhetoric in this long haul fight.

EWTN.com - Pro-Life Credibility of a "Common Ground" Congressman Questioned

EWTN.com - Pro-Life Credibility of "Common Ground" Congressman Questioned

Seems to me that those Democrats who think it is only enough to cast a vote and say they are personally against abortion don't realize they have a responsibility to put some teeth into it by becoming active in their local central committees demanding a place for the prolife position. They need politicians that would fall on the sword for the prolife issue. Of Course, they would be shocked by what they would find in the party structure. The moderate position is the clueless position. It does not change anything except the need for useful idiots in the march towards serfdom. We are in the middle of an epic battle-those who think the lessor evil is equivalent to the greater good and that through politics (not adhering to principals) we can find a gentle solution.

The Pope takes Journalists' Questions

The Pope took some time on his airplane trip to Africa to answer journalists' questions. From Pope Replies to Question from Journalists from EWTN Just so you know where he coming from on the condom issue, here is a tidbit:
"It is my belief believe that the most effective presence on the front in the battle against HIV/AIDS is in fact the Catholic Church and her institutions. ... The problem of HIV/AIDS cannot be overcome with mere slogans. If the soul is lacking, if Africans do not help one another, the scourge cannot be resolved by distributing condoms; quite the contrary, we risk worsening the problem. The solution can only come through a twofold commitment: firstly, the humanisation of sexuality, in other words a spiritual and human renewal bringing a new way of behaving towards one another; and secondly, true friendship, above all with the suffering, a readiness - even through personal sacrifice - to stand by those who suffer".

For all the concern secular humanists talk about in their concern for the sufferings of their fellow men, their concern to care for the whole person does not come through. Suffering people seem to be left without hope to be cared for spiritually as well as physically. Many times they are approached with ideas of the culture of death including abortion, euthanasia and no hope that destructive behaviors can not be turned away from. There is no real answer to the subject of death. The message of the Church is the culture of life.
