I did not realize our Diocese in San Jose used muni bonds to fund the new Chancery Office. That scares me. It seems the Church has not heeded the warnings Teresa of Avila talks about in refusing to live on endowments. This is an even bigger step away from that concept. This seems to be a distraction from the mission to preach the Gospel, as the risks of such approaches require one eye on the investment and the other on the mission.
