EWTN.com - U.S. Bishops Call for Affordable Health Care without Abortion; Backtracking on Illegal Immigrants?

The USCCB is apparently scrutinizing the actual language of the proposed bills in Congress. One hopes that as a body they will understand that the ACORN way denies the individual the ability to make the best choices for themselves and their families. So many regulations regarding health care create barriers to the market providing efficient solutions. The more the government is in the makeup of health care, the expensive it has become. Physicians, hospitals and insurance companies must first respond to the regulations and the massive overhead (including giving Cadillac care to illegal immigrants) along with the inadequate compensation before they can decide how to manage the rest of the picture. No longer can you find the bedside physician that can afford to give out "free" care. Sending money up to Washington DC to beg back for pennies on the dollars just does not work. They finally seem to be embracing subsidiarity, but we shall see how the cards are played when the fight about immigration finally takes shape. There are some real concessions in the rhetoric in this long haul fight.
